Caminetto Business Rusticated Oom Paul Estate Briar Pipe, Italian Estates

Caminetto was, and is to this day, a decisive figure in the history of Italy’s pipe workshop tradition. After spending time developing their skills in the Castello workshop, Guiseppe Ascorti and Luigi Radice left to found their own venture, which they named, “Caminetto.” Here, Ascorti and Radice were able to create their own now-classic shapes and finishes, such as the rusticated “Business,” and the carved, wax-drip “New Dear.”

While the Caminetto workshop has been a bastion for modern, Italian pipe making for decades now, the very traditional Oom Paul, or Hungarian, has been a staple in the Caminetto catalog since its earliest years. More recently, Caminetto’s annual Event pipe for 2023 was one of the workshop’s classic Oom Paul renditions. This one, dressed in the contemporary Business finish, sits somewhere in between the most recent Caminetto renditions and the old 151 KS. While not a panel shape per se, it’s a decidedly boxy interpretation, with a stacked bowl and a generally large, tall, swooping figure.

The condition is very good. Some wear to the rim and minor finish fading.
