A common practice among pipe companies in the 20th century was the production of “seconds.” If you can think of a major pipe brand from the last 100 years, it’s almost certain that a seconds brand (or, in some instances, many seconds brands) came from the same production line. Essentially, seconds were pipes that were discovered to have minor, purely cosmetic, imperfections at one stage or another in the manufacturing process. Instead of throwing these perfectly good pipes away, companies used seconds brands to offer them at more affordable prices.

This appears to be one such pipe, taking the form of a nice, classic, wide-chambered Anglo-French pot.

The condition is very good. Minor inner rim darkening and a couple of small scratches on the bowl. I note a couple of small fills, but the pipe is otherwise very nicely grained.
