Unknown (Edward’s?) XL Smooth Calabash Estate Briar Pipe, American Estates
Out of stock
Description
This pipe came in with a large lot of Edward’s pipes, a significant pipe company in the United States in the 20th century and which Randy Wiley once worked for. As it unstamped, I unfortunately can’t confirm who made the pipe, though it is certainly in the style of Edward’s famous “Algerian Briar” pipes (and indeed of the contemporaneous, nascent American freehand scene). Taking the form of an exceedingly tall, large calabash, the pipe is accented with a ferrule cut from amber-toned acrylic and fitted with an ornate, matching acrylic stem.
The condition is good. Some inner rim darkening and a couple of small scratches on the bowl.
