Sir Vickie by Savinelli Partially Rusticated Pot Estate Briar Pipe, Unsmoked
Out of stock
Description
It is probably fair to say that Savinelli is Italy’s most famous pipe brand. Founded in Milan in 1876 by Achille Savinelli, the brand has continuously offered high quality pipes for nearly 150 years. Though various Savinelli lines have come and gone over the years, the brand has always been notable for putting out classically styled pipes with a distinctly Italian twist.
Based on the various Sir Vickie pipes I’ve seen, it appears that the brand was not a make of pipes, but rather a company or shop that commissioned—as is very common—various pipe makers, from various locales, to produce pipes under the Sir Vickie name. House-brand pipes, essentially. This one is very obviously a Savinelli, which will have been made specially for Sir Vickie. The first tell is that it is a 1-1 for Savinelli’s 316 KS pot/Dublin shape; another is the rest of the design, including the partial rustication style and the golden Lucite stem; finally, the pipe uses the same “ITALY” stamp that Savinelli does. It’s a very nice pipe, too. I’m sure Sir Vickie, if he was a person, would have been proud.
This pipe is completely unsmoked, with an original (slightly flaked) bowl coating.
