Savinelli Autograph Sandblasted Dublin Estate Briar Pipe, Italian Estates

It is probably fair to say that Savinelli is Italy’s most famous pipe brand. Founded in Milan in 1876 by Achille Savinelli, the brand has continuously offered high quality pipes for nearly 150 years. Though various Savinelli lines have come and gone over the years, the brand has always been notable for putting out classically styled pipes with a distinctly Italian twist.

Outside of the Punto Oro and the Giubileo d’Oro, the finest sandblasts in Savinelli’s repertoire are to be found in its Autograph series. This makes sense, given that Autographs are hand-turned, allowing for a greater control over the “reading” and steering of a given briar block’s patterning. This one has something of a Danish aspect to its shaping, evoking the pipes of, for example, Benni Jorgensen and his son Lasse Skovgaard, especially when one also factors in its tight, highly consistent, ring grain sandblasting.

The condition is good. Some rim darkening and finish fading.
