It is probably fair to say that Savinelli is Italy’s most famous pipe brand. Founded in Milan in 1876 by Achille Savinelli, the brand has continuously offered high quality pipes for over 150 years. Though various Savinelli lines have come and gone over the years, the brand has always been notable for putting out classically styled pipes with a distinctly Italian twist.

Savinelli’s Alligator series offers a distinct approach to pipe aesthetics, being essentially a mixed finish of smooth and rusticated sections that evoke the reptilian hide of its namesake. This is an example of the Red variety of the Alligator, one whose signature finish and striking, red and gold acrylic mouthpiece put a unique modern spin on the pipe’s classical, bent billiard form.

The condition is very good. Charring and finish fading on the rim. This pipe is chambered to allow for the use of 6mm filters if desired, such as Savinelli’s own balsa filters, or will perform perfectly well without one.
