Papa Bear’s Pipes by Tim Beaumont Contrast Sandblasted Cobra Handmade Briar Pipe, New

Out of stock

Description

Papa Bear’s Pipes are made by North American artisan Tim Beaumont. Beaumont has been making pipes since 2018, cultivating a unique style that isn’t afraid to mix and match design elements and to create something completely out of the ordinary.

The cobra is a decades-old staple of Danish pipe making, one that has, over the course of time, migrated into various new locales not unlike its namesake. And, like its namesake, the cobra has evolved and mutated in various directions. Some renditions take the hallmark broad front face of the bowl and extend it almost beyond recognition; some reverse the proportions of the front and rear faces to create a more literal “hood”; and some, like this one from Tim Beaumont, bring the reptile’s snaking body and scale patterns into the equation, making for a design that borders on the figural. In terms of the latter, and has come to be expected from Beaumont, the contrast sandblasting on this cobra is exquisite, with its rich ring grain relief emphasized even further by a fiery deep contrast finish.
