The Moonshine Pipe Company was created in the early 2010s by American artisan craftsman Johnathan Lavezzo. After becoming a major hit in the tobacco pipe community, Lavezzo’s production became greatly outpaced by demand, leading him to enlist the help of Todd Johnson and Pete Prevost in scaling up the venture. Johnson and Prevost’s BriarWorks workshop took on the manufacture of Moonshine pipes, with the former ultimately acquiring the latter. Today, Moonshine and BriarWorks pipes are produced under the same roof in Tennessee.

The “Pot Still” is Moonshine’s unique take on an old, Anglo-French staple, that of the pot. Like traditional renditions of yesteryear, it’s a broad shape with a mixture-friendly chamber, but the overall design is very different from those found among the factories of 20th century England, for example. Instead, it pays homage to another vice dear to the hearts of Moonshine’s craftsmen, whisky, taking its name and elements of its form from the pot stills used to make such.
