The Moonshine Pipe Company was created in the early 2010s by American artisan craftsman Johnathan Lavezzo. After becoming a major hit in the tobacco pipe community, Lavezzo’s production became greatly outpaced by demand, leading him to enlist the help of Todd Johnson and Pete Prevost in scaling up the venture. Johnson and Prevost’s Briarworks workshop took on the manufacture of Moonshine pipes, with the former ultimately acquiring the latter. Today, Moonshine and Briarworks pipes are produced under the same roof in Tennessee.
Like the “Deviled Anse,” the “Devil Dog” is another of Moonshine’s popular shapes that blends elements of the Devil Anse with the Rhodesian. It’s a novel design, and one that is exceedingly lightweight, compact, and, of course, eminently portable. This one is dressed in Moonshine’s signature, slight contrast Leather Sandblast and paired with a black acrylic stem.
