The MBSD Meerschaum Silver is our line of silver-mounted meerschaum pipes. Using the same high-grade, fast-coloring Turkish meerschaum found on our Deluxe series, these pipes exclusively feature silver army mounts or spigot mounts.
Long-time visitors to MBSD Pipes will know how much I enjoy blending various shapes and styles for our meerschaum pipe designs. Our latest batch of MBSD Meerschaums have included some prime examples, this being one of them. The shape is that of a broad, brandy-ish billiard—“Danish billiard,” if you will—that pays homage to legends such as Karl Erik, Jess Chonowitsch, and Kurt Balleby, along with the many American artisans who followed in their wake. Following its shaping, however, a more Turkish finishing has been applied, with lattice and guilloche motifs circling the bowl’s entirety. Given that this kind of brandy is especially broad, it’s a great candidate for a reverse calabash, which has also been included. The latter is comprised of a hollowed chamber nestled within the shank, one which gives the smoke more room to cool and dry as it passes from the pipe’s chamber to its silver-mounted mouthpiece.
