At MBSD we sell a lot of high-grade, high-quality pipes from various iconic makes, but some of the pipes we’re most proud of are our meerschaums. Right from the beginning, we wanted to offer the best smoking meers on the market, and to do this, we had them made with two distinct features. First, we made sure that they were made with block meerschaum that was carefully selected to be the most lightweight, pure, and porous available, meaning it would also color more quickly and evenly as it is smoked. Second, for our Deluxe meerschaums, we had the pipes made with a patented Briar-Mortise system that is closer to the stem connection on a briar pipe than a standard meerschaum. This is because, on our Deluxe models, the mortise is made from briar itself, while the tenons used are made from Delrin. This allows for more precision construction of the pipe’s draft hole, as well as a general extra durability and longevity.

In addition to their functional improvements, one thing that we’ve always been interested in when it comes to our meerschaum pipes is expanding our design portfolio. In particular, we’re always looking to including new shapes that either aren’t commonly associated with the medium, or which have been transformed in the last half century via the briar artisan scene.

There are certain shapes, however, that every good meerschaum seller needs in their portfolio, and which are bona fide classics in just about every medium. A traditional billiard is one of them, to the extent that, historically, influences between briar pipe companies and meerschaum carvers have been very much mutual. This Deluxe follows in that same vein, drawing not only on the reserved stylings of 19th and 20th century Viennese meerschaum designs, but also on the elegant Anglo-French saddle billiard renditions of makes such as Comoy’s, Dunhill, and Sasieni.

This pipe comes with a custom-fitted clam-shell hard case.
