It is probably fair to say that Savinelli is Italy’s most famous pipe brand. Founded in Milan in 1876 by Achille Savinelli, the brand has continuously offered high quality pipes for over 150 years. Though various Savinelli lines have come and gone over the years, the brand has always been notable for putting out classically styled pipes with a distinctly Italian twist.

Fader’s was a historic American tobacconist, having been founded all the way back in 1891. And, as tobacconists often do (especially if they have a significant pipe smoking clientele), Fader’s had house-brand pipes made for the shop by established the pipe companies of the day.

One such pipe company was Savinelli, which made briars to be sold under the Fader’s name. This one is a rather large, stacked billiard rendition (I have a feeling it’s a “111 EX” within Savinelli’s own shape chart) dressed in one of Savinelli’s house rusticated finishes.

The condition is great. Minor inner rim darkening. As with many Savinelli pipes, this one is chambered to fit 6mm filters, such as Savinelli’s balsa filters, if desired, though it will also perform perfectly well without one.
