Davidoff 414 Smooth Billiard Estate Briar Pipe, French Estates
Out of stock
Description
While Davidoff is most popularly known for its cigars, the company has also sold tobacco pipes (and pipe tobacco) since the 1970s. Like S.T. Dupont, Davidoff has on occasion contracted established pipe makers from across Europe to create high-grade smoking instruments that would match the luxury status of their other wares.
In the case of this one, it’s a very lovely, long billiard, with a distinctive, hand-cut, half-saddle stem. Though the majority of the design is very traditional, the shape of the stem and the “HAND CUT” font used on it would lead me to believe the pipe was made for Davidoff by Chacom. Chacom has certainly made pipes for Davidoff before, and this one would likely have ended up at the higher end of the make’s output, such as its Select lines, had it not been reserved specially for Davidoff.
The condition is very good. Some minor rim darkening.
