Description
Named for the company’s home township, Brebbia was founded in 1953 by Enea Buzzi, an alum of Savinelli’s manufacturing division. Still in operation 70 years later, Brebbia is one of Italy’s oldest extant pipe companies, with production still being undertaken using simple lathes and traditional methods of hand finishing. More recently, Brebbia has also collaborated with master artisan carvers from across to design some of its pipes, such as Denmark’s Rainer Barbi, Germany’s Otto Pollner and Holger Frickert, Italy’s Fausto Fincato, and Japan’s Tsuge.
Never let anyone tell you that being obsessively into tobacco pipes is not “productive.” For example, pipes are a great way to learn a new language, whether it’s French, Danish, German, Japanese, or, if you’re not English, English. They’re how I learned Italian. Well, a little Italian, at least. It’s a work in progress. Anyway, jokes aside, “sabbiata” is the most common Italian term for a sandblast finish, hence why this Brebbia bears that designation. It’s a modest pipe, though not without its charm, and is furthermore extremely lightweight, making for an ideal clencher.
The condition is fair. Some darkening and general wear to the rim, and stem slightly over-buffed at the base.
