Timeless Traditions

MBSD Briars Timeless Traditions is the classically inspired counterpart to our contemporary Modern Masters series. Following the affordable By Vitale line, we wanted to create briar pipes that used premium materials and careful engineering while remaining approachable for a wide range of budgets.

The series draws heavily from the briar pipes of the interwar years. Its designs were developed through extensive study of early-20th-century catalogs from historic manufacturers such as Barling and Kaywoodie. Rather than reproducing a single vintage pipe, Timeless Traditions captures the balanced proportions, restrained elegance, and practical construction that allowed these older designs to remain relevant across generations.

The Timeless Traditions 1 is a classic straight army-mount billiard, while the Timeless Traditions 2 adapts the same theme into an easy-hanging three-quarter bent billiard. Both are turned from quality briar, mounted with sterling silver, and fitted with hand-cut black ebonite mouthpieces. Smooth and sandblasted finishes are available, with exceptional examples potentially receiving a “K” grade for ring-grain sandblasts or an “E” grade for straight-grain and flame-grain smooths. Because briar is a natural material, grain, finish, dimensions, and weight may vary slightly between pipes.
