Vauen 3743 Smooth Dubin w/ Brass Estate Briar Pipe, Unsmoked, 9mm

Out of stock

Description

Vauen stems from Germany’s oldest tobacco pipe manufacturing company, tracing its roots back to the founding partnership of Karl Ellenberger and Carl August Ziener in Nuremberg, 1848. Out of the Ellenberger-Ziener partnership soon came the Vauen make itself, which grew to become Germany’s largest and most enduring pipe brand – a title that it continues to hold to this day.

Vauen’s shape 3743 is an interesting one. As far as I know, it hasn’t been available in the company’s catalog for a while, and it is not one that appears regularly on the estates scene, either. In the past I’ve compared it to a kind of hawkbill, though “speeding Dublin” could be another way of putting it, as it does have a definite sense of motion to it. The other point of reference, made previously, would be something like the Polonius of Gert Holbek, albeit a much more stout, German version.

This pipe is completely unsmoked, with an original bowl coating. It is chambered to allow for the use of 9mm filters if preferred.
