Smith House Vintage Sandblasted Pot w/ Brushed Brass Handmade Briar Pipe, New
Out of stock
Description
Taking their name from architect Richard Meier’s avant-garde homestead just off the Long Island Sound, Smith House Pipes are the creation of New York artisan Rich Rosselli. Like the Danish-American functionalists before him, Rosselli excels at creating modernized renditions of tried-and-true, traditional, Anglo-French staples. This he combines with novel uses of color and ornamentation, giving Smith House Pipes their acclaimed, signature aesthetic.
In the case of this Smith House, it’s a classic, lightweight and pocket-friendly English pot, not unlike those of Comoy’s or Dunhill in the early 20th century. Where it most differs from such pipes is, of course, in its materials and dress. While the bowl wears Smith House’s deep burgundy “Vintage” sandblast, it has, in this instance, been accented with a thick band of brushed brass, whose bright, golden tones tastefully contrast with those of the bowl and the pipe’s hand-cut cumberland mouthpiece.
