Sean Reum Glacier Sandblasted Apple Estate Briar Pipe, American Estates

Out of stock

Over the last decade, Sean Reum has emerged as one of North America’s most admired and in-demand pipe makers. Having followed Reum’s career for many years, including catching a few glimpses of the artisan in his Montana workshop, I’m happy to say that his status in the pipe world is well-earned. A master carver of hand made pipes in the Scandinavian tradition, Reum has managed to secure a niche in the highly competitive artisan market through a combination of innovative designs and production techniques, a consistent, high quality output, and an almost unparalleled work ethic.

There are many things I admire about Sean Reum, and one of them is that, while his pipes are undeniably high-grade, he’s also made sure that buying one doesn’t mean having to give up a whole month’s pay. Like the Workshop collaboration he did a while back with Chris Morgan, the Glacier series is a way for Reum to offer high-quality, artisan pipes at a price that is even more accessible than the rest of his output. And the best part is that Glacier series pipes are really not that different to the latter.

This one, for example, is a sleek apple in Reum’s preferred Scandi-American style, dressed in one of his deep contrast sandblast finishes, highlighting a wealth of ring grain around the bowl. While the mouthpiece is acrylic, the pipe also features a narrow, cumberland accent at the shank end, which gels nicely with the finish it caps.

The condition is great. The pipe seems very lightly smoked.
