Savinelli Punto Oro Mister G 316 KS Sandblasted Pot Estate Briar Pipe, Italian Estates 6mm

It is probably fair to say that Savinelli is Italy’s most famous pipe brand. Founded in Milan in 1876 by Achille Savinelli, the brand has continuously offered high quality pipes for nearly 150 years. Though various Savinelli lines have come and gone over the years, the brand has always been notable for putting out classically styled pipes with a distinctly Italian twist.

Savinelli’s Punto Oro has denoted some of the make’s high grade offerings since its earliest decades in pipe-making. The Mister G series is a little newer, and can be a little confusing without knowing the its background. First, who is the eponymous Mister G? That would be Mister Giancarlo Savinelli, grandson of Savinelli’s founder Achille Savinelli, and the current president of the Savinelli company. While the Punto Oro series predated Giancarlo’s contributions, his preference for collars, rings, and other metalwork in pipe design led to the creation of the Punto Oro subseries bearing his initial. In other words, Punto Oro Mister G pipes are Punto Oro pipes with a little more flair than other pipes in the main series—a series whose bowls are already turned from only the finest briar blocks Savinelli possesses, comprising of just 1% of the company’s output. This Mister G features a stem inlay comprised of two golden rings, sandwiching another one cut from briar. It is rendered in Savinelli’s squat Dublin pot hybrid, the 316 KS and, unlike most other Savinelli pipes, it features a stem cut from ebonite, rather than the more standard Lucite.

The condition is great. Very minor inner rim darkening and slight residual oxdiation on the stem.
The pipe is chambered for 6mm filters as standard, such as Savinelli’s balsa filters, but will perform just as well without one.
