Description
It is probably fair to say that Savinelli is Italy’s most famous pipe brand. Founded in Milan in 1876 by Achille Savinelli, the brand has continuously offered high quality pipes for nearly 150 years. Though various Savinelli lines have come and gone over the years, the brand has always been notable for putting out classically styled pipes with a distinctly Italian twist.
Not to be confused with the Marco Polo, the Polo was a line of Savinelli pipes made long ago, and which has been out of production for a similarly long amount of time. There were smooth Polos, and there were rusticated Polos, as seen here, with the connecting theme being a dark, reddish brown finish, a cumberland-style acrylic stem, and a neat silver collar at the shank end. This one’s a classic lightweight apple, making it an easy, good looking clencher.
The condition is good. Some rim charring and slight tooth chatter, though nothing major. The pipe is chambered to allow for the use of 6mm filters, such as Savinelli’s own balsa filters, but will perform just as well without a one if preferred.
