Description

It is probably fair to say that Savinelli is Italy’s most famous pipe brand. Founded in Milan in 1876 by Achille Savinelli, the brand has continuously offered high quality pipes for nearly 150 years. Though various Savinelli lines have come and gone over the years, the brand has always been notable for putting out classically styled pipes with a distinctly Italian twist.

Savinelli still produces “Oscar” series pipes—or, at least, they produce pipes under the series name Oscar. This is not one of those pipes, nor one of its sister lines, such as the Oscar Tiger and Oscar Lucite. Instead, it’s a much older Savinelli pipe, whose name was originally the Oscar Aged Briar. This OAB was a relatively modest line, combining seasoned briar with smooth or rusticated finishes and black vulcanite stems. It also, as seen here, featured condenser tubes not unlike Dunhill,  as seen here on this 122, quarter-bent pot rendition.

The condition is good. Some darkening and general wear to the rim and very light scratches around the bowl.
