Savinelli Extra 412 KS Smooth Dublin Estate Briar Pipe, Italian Estates
Out of stock
Description
It is probably fair to say that Savinelli is Italy’s most famous pipe brand. Founded in Milan in 1876 by Achille Savinelli, the brand has continuously offered high quality pipes for nearly 150 years. Though various Savinelli lines have come and gone over the years, the brand has always been notable for putting out classically styled pipes with a distinctly Italian twist.
Savinelli’s Extra line is an old one, having debuted back when pipe catalogs were still published in black and white. This one will be post-1970, based on the shape code, though the nomenclature still suggests that it has many decades behind it. The design of the Extra was always a simple one: briar and ebonite, available in either rusticated or a light brown smooth polished finish. This is an example of the latter, rendered in Savinelli’s classic 412 KS Dublin shape. Despite its modesty, it’s a warm and inviting design, with a comfortable ebonite stem not found on most contemporary Savinelli pipes.
The condition is good. Some inner rim darkening, slight residual stem oxidation, and slight tooth marks.
