Description
Papa Bear’s Pipes are made by North American artisan Tim Beaumont. Beaumont has been making pipes since 2018, cultivating a unique style that isn’t afraid to mix and match design elements and to create something completely out of the ordinary.
As with another recent Tim Beaumont pipe in his latest batch, this one is primarily constructed from a material more commonly found in Italian pipes (such as those of Radice, Jacono, and Il Duca), but which has slowly crept its way into American artisan briars (including those of Abe Herbaugh and Nate King): olivewood. A heat-resistant material that has been used in pipe making since before briar root became a standard, olivewood can be even more beautiful than briar when each is given a simple, natural stain, on account of its unique hue and patterning. Furthermore, its reaction to even light sandblasting, as in the case of this one, reveals a wealth of texture that only adds to this effect. Here Beaumont has used olivewood to create a short, stout, but also decidedly lightweight billiard, which is accented by custom-crafted artisan resin and fitted with a hand-cut blue cumberland stem.
