Description
Papa Bear’s Pipes are made by North American artisan Tim Beaumont. Beaumont has been making pipes since 2018, cultivating a unique style that isn’t afraid to mix and match design elements and to create something completely out of the ordinary.
Not unlike another pipe from Tim Beaumont’s last batch with us, this one leans Danish in a rather specific way. For the most part, the shaping is that of a classic egg, though in this instance with a very interesting partial sandblast finish. But, as with the pipe from last time, the Dane this one connects with most (at least in my mind) would be Age Bogelund. Like Beaumont, Bogelund also liked bulbous brandy and egg shapes, but he also had a very particular approach to stem fitments, often creating designs that incorporated accents paired with a kind of “space fitting” join, à la Peterson and their DeLuxe shapes. As seen on this Beaumont, it’s a great way of easing the transition from shank to stem, while also adding a little extra something to further distinguish a design.
