Description

The Moonshine Pipe Company was created in the early 2010s by American artisan craftsman Johnathan Lavezzo. After becoming a major hit in the tobacco pipe community, Lavezzo’s production became greatly outpaced by demand, leading him to enlist the help of Todd Johnson and Pete Prevost in scaling up the venture. Johnson and Prevost’s Briarworks workshop took on the manufacture of Moonshine pipes, with the former ultimately acquiring the latter. Today, Moonshine and BriarWorks pipes are produced under the same roof in Tennessee.

The poker is a near-universally beloved pipe shape, from the most traditional of English makes to trailblazing Danish artisans, but despite its far-flung appeal, there is something spiritually American about it. Perhaps it’s the no-nonsense simplicity, or its typically stout figure. Either way, Moonshine could hardly call itself a red-blooded American make if it did not include at least one poker rendition in its portfolio. And include it does—two, in fact. This one, the fittingly named MS01 “Patriot,” is the larger of Moonshine’s pokers, though it’s still short enough to stow in one’s pocket when the time calls for it. Dressed in the make’s crisp, black sandblast finish, this one is fitted with a matching black acrylic mouthpiece.
