Description

The MBSD Meerschaum Silver is our line of silver mounted meerschaum pipes. Using the same high-grade, fast-coloring Turkish meerschaum found on our Deluxe series, these pipes exclusively feature either silver ferrules, army mounts or spigot mounts.

One of the jewels in the crown of Turkish meerschaum carving is the lattice motif. There are several ways to approach a lattice, however, some of which are shallow and more akin to tessellation, and then there is the “true lattice.” The latter is much more difficult and labor intensive, as it involves working a meerschaum block so as to give the impression of two separate layers at the bowl’s surface; the bowl itself, and a weave-like structure wrapped around it. The true lattice is less common as a result, but when it is pulled off successfully, the overall design looks very special indeed. This particular MBSD Meerschaum is an example of that and, even further, it’s an especially large, “mini-magnum” rendition, with a bulbous brandy bowl having undergone the true lattice treatment. Naturally, the pipe deserved a little extra finery to celebrate this accomplishment, which in this case took the form of some added brickwork carvings across its long shank, which in turn was capped by a sterling silver ferrule.

This pipe comes with a custom-fitted hard case.
