Kenan Claw and Egg Estate Block Meerschaum Pipe, Unsmoked

In the world of meerschaum, even more so than the world of briar, having one’s name put on one’s works is a privilege granted to very few carvers. Only those who have risen through the ranks of Turkey’s many meerschaum workshops and proved themselves as among the very best in the craft are granted that right, which typically takes form of a quite literal “signing” of the pipe itself. For every Baki, Sabri, or Tekin, there are hundreds of craftsmen who will remain anonymous to those who enjoy their work.

Kenan is one of today’s most popular masters of meerschaum carving, and works with many of Turkey’s established meerschaum houses, where his pipes are in high demand. We recently had the chance to acquire a few “new old stock” meerschaum pipes made for another, now closed, business, and though we have our own MBSD Meerschaum lines, the ones by Kenan were too good to pass up. This is one of his classic claw and egg renditions, which takes up a motif in modern meerschaum carving.

This pipe is completely unsmoked. Note that it does not come with a case.
