Kaywoodie Pre-1950 Flame Grain 10 Smooth Bent Billiard Estate Briar Pipe, American Estates
Out of stock
Description
Kaywoodie pipes are as American as apple pie. Starting in 1919 as a pipe brand for KB&B, a pipe shop dating all the way back to 1851, Kaywoodie has since then been a staple of American-made pipes. In the present, many Kaywoodies are collectors’ items, in addition to being fantastic smokers.
Bearing the tagline of “The Last Word in Pipes,” KB&B was particularly proud of the Flame Grain Kaywoodie, putting it right at the top of early catalogs and pricing it at double what even a Super Grain was offered for. In fact, in the early years of the Flame Grain, it was the only Kaywoodie pipe to feature a black cloverleaf inlay—within a circular white one—in contrast to the white cloverleaf that distinguished all other Kaywoodie pipes. This one is a gorgeous pipe, no doubt, showing of the superior briar that KB&B spent many a page boasting about in their sales materials at the time. Based on the nomenclature, this pipe will be pre-1950, made back when KB&B did indeed still own the Kaywoodie make.
The condition is very good. Some darkening and general wear to the rim, and slight finish fading.
