Description

Comoy’s is a historic brand in pipe making, and possibly the most historic brand in the making of briar pipes. Though originally founded in 1825 by a French family from Saint Claude, France, production of Comoy’s pipes was soon moved to London, England, where it established itself as one of the quintessential English pipe companies.

I must admit, I haven’t seen many rusticated Comoy’s pipes before, but I rather like this one. The combination of granular, black rustication with a smooth polished rim quite reminds me of the Italian style, such as is commonly associated with Becker, Castello, or older Savinelli lines. As can be gathered from the name of the line, this Magnum pipe is indeed a large pipe, with a length of around six and a half inches. It isn’t excessively heavy, but it will hold a good deal of tobacco for a long, relaxing smoke. It’s also been wonderfully preserved, with the stem free from abrasions and the rim still having kept its unblemished luster.
