Citation (by Savinelli) Meerschaum Lined Rusticated Lumberman Estate Briar Pipe, Italian Estates

Description

While Citation was a line of pipes made for the Alpha brand, which was itself owned by Israel’s Shalom Pipe Factory, SPF also commissioned a number of other companies to manufacture pipes for them. One of these other companies was Savinelli, in Italy. Those familiar with Savinelli’s older shapes may well recognize this one, as I did. After all, the 8003 was Savinelli’s flagship lumberman design up until the 1970s. This one is dressed in Savinelli’s early Capri finish, and I would imagine that’s exactly what it is, especially as Savinelli did make meerschaum lined Capri pipes—though it’s been many decades since their production was discontinued.

The condition is fair. Rim darkening and some scratches at the top of the meerschaum lining.
