Caminetto was, and is to this day, a decisive figure in the history of Italy’s pipe workshop tradition. After spending time developing their skills in the Castello workshop, Guiseppe Ascorti and Luigi Radice left to found their own venture, which they named, ‘Caminetto.’ Here, Ascorti and Radice were able to create their own now-classic shapes and finishes, such as the rusticated “Business,” and the carved, wax-drip New Dear.”

While Caminetto began its life as a place where Guiseppe Ascorti and Luigi Radice had the freedom to produce whichever designs they felt like, this freedom gradually turned into a more or less set shape chart, just as Castello had before it. These shapes were designs created by Ascorti and Radice, but a dissatisfaction with doing things “by the books” ultimately culminated in their respective departures, after which Caminetto continued on only briefly until the workshop itself mysteriously burned down. When the Caminetto name was purchased by the Ascorti family in the mid-1970s, they reignited the spirit of the make’s early days, with a litany of new shapes and styles being conceived with every passing year. This sandblasted apple, for example, has a certain Danish tinge to it, combining a plump bowl with a long oval shank and short stem. It’s a little more elegant and refined than many of the Caminetto designs that came before it, while being constructed and finished with the same high-level of precision and skill that Caminetto pipes made their name with.

The condition is great. Minor rim darkening. The pipe comes with its original box and sleeve.
