Brtontini is one of the oldest companies in the pipe industry in Italy. Founded in 1890 in Tuscany by Turildo Barontini, the company initially only produced briar, but in 1925, Turildo’s son Bruno shifted the operation to making pipes from this briar. Later, the company was inherited by Cesare Barontini, whose name is most readily associated with Barontini pipe production. Barontini is still operated by Cesare and his wife today.

Various nationalities have various names for the lines of pipes they produce, which can make things a little muddy when trying to interpret what these names aim to convey. “Diamante,” on the other hand, seems fairly easy to interpret, even if one does not speak Italian. Dressed in a simple, very Italian, light brown finish, this Barontini has more than enough glistening bird’s-eye to earn its precious stone namesake. The overall design is modest and minimalistic, though with briar like that, it doesn’t need to be much more.

This pipe is completely unsmoked, with an original bowl coating.
