Astleys of London Smooth Squat Rhodesian Estate Briar Pipe [SOLD OUT]

Description

Astleys was one of London’s most historic pipe and tobacco shops. Like many pipe tobacconists, its owners had pipes made specially to be sold under the shop’s name. Astleys pipes, however, were made by some of the premier pipe manufacturers and artisans in the UK, such as Dunhill, Charatan, Les Wood, and Ken Barnes and Barry Jones of James Upshall. As a result, Astleys pipes are prized for their quality, and as examples of the very finest British pipes.

What a curious shape this Astleys is! A Rhodesian, but one so squat it could almost be mistaken for a prince. It also has the most beautiful, golden contrast stain. It’s fairly long, but it isn’t especially heavy, so a veteran smoker may find it clenchable. In any case, it fits well in the hand, and looks supremely elegant.

The condition is near mint. A little darkening on the innermost lip of the rim, perhaps, but nothing beyond superficial.
