Metal-frame tobacco pipes use a metal shank or chassis fitted with a removable bowl made from briar, meerschaum, morta, or another heat-resistant material. This modular construction distinguishes them from conventional pipes in which the bowl and shank are formed from a single block.
Falcon and Kirsten are two of the best-known metal-frame systems, while Peacemaker, H. Wiebe Radiator, and other makers have developed related designs. Many incorporate a chamber or moisture-collection area beneath the bowl, and removable components can make routine cleaning straightforward. Compatible bowls may also be exchanged to change the pipe’s appearance or smoking characteristics.
MBSD’s selection may include complete metal-frame pipes, estate examples, and compatible replacement bowls. We also pair Falcon frames with specially made MBSD block-meerschaum bowls, offering an alternative to the briar bowls commonly associated with the system.
