L’Anatra XL Partially Rusticated Canadian w/ Silver Estate Briar Pipe, Unsmoked

Description
L’Anatra pipes are made by the artisan duo Massimo Palazzi and Andrea Pascucci in northern Italy’s Pesaro region. Those with some familiarity with Italian pipes will likely recognize that particular region, as it is the home of what has come to be known as the “Pesaro School” of high-grade pipe making. Through its close network of artisans and workshops, Pesaro has been an epicenter for some of the finest pipes in Europe, including those of Mastro de Paja, Ser Jacopo, Le Nuvole, and—of course—L’Anatra.
In the world of cars, raised hood ornaments have been a sign of luxury, high quality, and generally exceptional makes and models. Think Bentley, Jaguar, Rolls-Royce, and so on. I’m not sure who at l’Anatra decided to do similar for their pipes, but it always hit me as a stroke of genius, not least for marketing. L’Anatra are, of course, also pipes of a quality befitting such ornamentation, but it’s a smart move nonetheless. As for this one, L’Anatra pipes tend to be a little sturdier than their compatriots in the Italian workshop scene, so it’s a good representation of their design philosophy. The pipe is a decidedly stout Canadian, though with a slightly curvier (indeed almost egg-like) bowl, showing off a partial, signature Pesaro-style rustication along with a silver collar and the aforementioned, raised silver stem inlay—which, being L’Anatra, is of course cast in the form of a duck’s head.
This pipe is completely unsmoked. It comes with its original box and sleeve.
