Vauen Venti 3 Partially Rusticated Sitter Estate Briar Pipe, Unsmoked, 9mm

Out of stock

Description

Vauen stems from Germany’s oldest tobacco pipe manufacturing company, tracing its roots back to the founding partnership of Karl Ellenberger and Carl August Ziener in Nuremberg, 1848. Out of the Ellenberger-Ziener partnership soon came the Vauen make itself, which grew to become Germany’s largest and most enduring pipe brand – a title that it continues to hold to this day.

Belonging to the make’s high-end Weisspunkt, or “White Point” series, to call Vauen’s Venti “distinctive” would be an understatement. The model debuted in 2020 (venti is Italian for “twenty”), with the explicit intention of creating a pipe that would capture that feeling of entering a new era with the arrival of a new decade. The Venti was also, it seems, produced in very limited numbers, as they have long been out of stock at every retailer that carried them. The design is, as one would expect, decidedly futuristic, though not without some callbacks to the classics of pipe design. A squat sitter straddling the lines between poker, cherrywood, and volcano, perhaps the most striking thing about the overall design is its aluminum faux spigot mount and reverse tenon. Despite these unorthodox additions, the pipe is precision engineered (something the Germans are known for) to ensure it sits on its own accord, making it highly functional in addition to its futuristic aesthetic.

This pipe is completely unsmoked, with an original bowl coating, having come to us with a bulk lot of new old stock (NOS) pipes from a shop closure in Europe. The pipe is chambered to allow for the use of 9mm filters if preferred.
