Vauen by Barontini 415 Partially Rusticated Dublin Estate Briar Pipe, Unsmoked, 9mm

Out of stock

Description

Vauen stems from Germany’s oldest tobacco pipe manufacturing company, tracing its roots back to the founding partnership of Karl Ellenberger and Carl August Ziener in Nuremberg, 1848. Out of the Ellenberger-Ziener partnership soon came the Vauen make itself, which grew to become Germany’s largest and most enduring pipe brand – a title that it continues to hold to this day.

Vauen is less commonly known for its collaborations with famous designers than other makers, such as Stanwell, but the company has nonetheless partnered with quite a few very interesting individuals and companies. These include Oliver Brandt, Radice, Mastro de Paja, and, in the case of this one, Caesare Barontini. There’s certainly an Italian flair on show, mixing a slightly freeform bent Dublin shape, draped in a light brown stain, with some partial rustication and ornate sterling silverwork. It’s a well-grained piece, and the rustication is tastefully applied, especially in the ripple of exposed burl on the pipe’s underside.

This pipe is completely unsmoked, with an original bowl coating. The pipe is chambered for the use of 9mm filters if preferred.
