It is probably fair to say that Savinelli is Italy’s most famous pipe brand. Founded in Milan in 1876 by Achille Savinelli, the brand has continuously offered high quality pipes for nearly 150 years. Though various Savinelli lines have come and gone over the years, the brand has always been notable for putting out classically styled pipes with a distinctly Italian twist.

As used to be the tradition in pipe making for established brands, Savinelli has, for a number of years, released a limited-edition pipe at Christmas time, with theirs going by the name of the “Saint Nicholas.” The design is always festive, but always different. This rendition of the classic Savinelli 616 KS bent billiard, for example, wears a rusticated, deep burgundy finish, which is complemented by a mother-of-pearl blue acrylic stem, along with two silver accents sandwiching a band of white acrylic.

This pipe is completely unsmoked, with an original bowl coating. Like most contemporary Savinelli pipes, this one has a tenon that will fit 6mm filters, such as Savinelli’s own balsa filters, but the pipe will perform just as well without a filter if preferred.
