Sasieni Old England 55S Rusticated Billiard Estate Briar Pipe, English Estates
Out of stock
Description
Along with names like Barling, Charatan, and Dunhill Sasieni holds a special place in the history of English smoking pipes—one near to its very beginnings. So the story goes, Sasieni himself worked for Dunhill during its early days. But eventually he left Dunhill, having his own ideas about how pipes should be made, and founded Sasieni. This was 1919, and Sasieni has been the closest thing to a household name in English pipes ever since.
Sasieni always had particularly exacting standards for its pipes, even within the English pipe scene, so when a bowl was found to have even the tiniest, superficial imperfection, the bowl would be used for one of Sasieni’s many sub-brands. The Old England was one such sub-brand, offering connoisseurs a high-quality pipe at a more affordable price point. Here we see an Old England in its Rustic guise, taking the form of the 55S, aka the saddle variant of the Buckingham billiard.
The condition is good. Some rim charring and chamber slightly over-reamed.
