Søren Refbjerg Rasmussen was one of the central figures in the post-war Danish pipe-making movement. Rasmussen worked at Copenhagen’s W.O. Larsen workshop, ultimately succeeding Hans “Former” Nielsen as its foreman, and was also the founder of the Søren workshop, which produced freehand pipes during the 1970s freehand boom. After the Søren workshop was closed, Rasmussen continued to carve pipes, doing so under his middle name, Refbjerg.

Like so many pipe makers of his generation, Søren Refbjerg Rasmussen loved the classics, and while his Søren workshop produced thousands of modern freehand pipes during its lifetime, the succeeding Refbjerg make allowed Rasmussen to focus more on his preferred style. Thus came pipes like this one; a burgundy-blasted Lovat with just a touch of “Danishness” by way of its brandy bowl, completed with a collar turned from sterling silver.

The condition is good. Some rim darkening and slight finish fading.
