Description
The Moonshine Pipe Company was created in the early 2010s by American artisan craftsman Johnathan Lavezzo. After becoming a major hit in the tobacco pipe community, Lavezzo’s production became greatly outpaced by demand, leading him to enlist the help of Todd Johnson and Pete Prevost in scaling up the venture. Johnson and Prevost’s Briarworks workshop took on the manufacture of Moonshine pipes, with the former ultimately acquiring the latter. Today, Moonshine and Briarworks pipes are produced under the same roof in Tennessee.
One of Moonshine’s most popular shapes is their MS09 “Cannonball”—so popular, in fact, that the workshop reinterpreted it to create two others in its likeness. One was the MS09S “Short Fuse Cannonball,” which featured a smaller stem; the other was the MS12 “Grapeshot,” a smaller, lighter variant on the original design. And, funnily enough, the MS12 Grapeshot was so popular that a second variant was introduced, this time with a slightly longer stem. Thus was born the MS12L, seen here in the workshop’s signature, Dark Smooth contrast finish and fitted with one of its white acrylic stems.
