Michal Novak Smooth Hawkbill w/ Black Palm Estate Briar Pipe, Other Estates
Out of stock
Description
There’s an old British saying about buses: you wait forever for one to come along, only for three to show up at once. Until this year, we’d never had a Michal Novak estate pipe come through. This, however, is the third we’ve had in the space of a few months. As is typical of Novak’s pipes, it is dramatically out of the ordinary, without being completely freeform. The pipe is a hawkbill, though it is the most bulbous of its kind I’ve ever personally seen (and I’ve seen some pretty bulbous Caminetto and Ser Jacopo renditions), with lovely, fiery grain. I wonder whether Novak deliberately oriented the grain so that the pipe, when viewed in profile, would look like a meteor hurtling through the atmosphere. It so, he nailed it.
The condition is great. Smoked, but lightly. Some minor, residual stem oxidation.
