Description

The MBSD Meerschaum Silver is our line of silver mounted meerschaum pipes. Using the same high-grade, fast-coloring Turkish meerschaum found on our Deluxe series, these pipes exclusively feature silver army mounts, ferrules, or spigot mounts.

The blowfish has been a staple of artisan briar pipes for many years, having been first conceived by the legendary Lars Ivarsson. Ivarsson was, of course, the son of the Scandinavian pipe pioneer Sixten Ivarsson, and is arguably one of the few figures to have ever exceeded his father’s creativity, skill, and acclaim. While Lars had his own, relatively set way of making blowfishes, many an artisan since his time has taken the form in new and novel directions, to the extent that a broader category, the fish, now serves as a catch-all for many adjacent designs.

This particular MBSD Meerschaum is a blowfish of sorts or, perhaps better described, a fish rendition, whose “finned” figure brings it even closer to its namesake, not unlike certain Japanese high-grades. The finishing is strictly Turkish, on the other hand, with the entirety of the bowl having been dressed in a mesmerizing, geometric latticework. As a last touch, the pipe also features a reverse calabash system nestled in its chamber, providing an even cooler, drier smoke.

This pipe comes with a custom-fitted hard case.
