Much like the MBSD Meerschaum Silver and Silver Cap lines, the Double Silver is comprised exclusively of sterling silver-mounted meerschaum. But, as the name suggests, Double Silver pipes are mounted not once, but twice. Each features a sterling silver cap at its rim, protecting the bowl and chamber from slips of the flame and lava build-up, as well as a sterling silver fitment at the shank end, typically in the form of an army mount. Each is made using the same high-grade, fast-coloring Turkish block meerschaum found on our other various meerschaum lines, but with even more finery than any of the meers we’ve offered thus far.

Meerschaum is a product of nature. Consequently, and just like briar, the larger a given block, the higher the probability that there will be naturally occurring flaws in that block. This means that magnum-sized pipes are rather rare, as making them is a battle with almost pure chance. Every so often, however, a block of meerschaum will make it through the harvesting, carving, and finishing processes with not a flaw in sight, giving way to a rather tremendous pipe. That’s exactly what this pipe is. At 8 inches in length and with a towering, cavernous bowl, it’s one of the largest modern meerschaums we’ve yet sold, so it was only right that it also received all the fineries that such a pipe deserved. Dressed in quintessentially Turkish carvings of feathers, furls and other geometric figures, the pipe has also been fitted with mounts of sterling silver at its rim and shank end, with the latter also serving to stabilize a hollow chamber within the shank itself, which functions as a “reverse calabash” to further cool and dry smoke as it passes from chamber to mouthpiece.

This pipe comes with a custom-fitted hard case.
