At MBSD we sell a lot of high-grade, high-quality pipes from various iconic makes, but some of the pipes we’re most proud of are our meerschaums. Right from the beginning, we wanted to offer the best smoking meers on the market, and to do this, we had them made with two distinct features. First, we made sure that they were made with block meerschaum that was carefully selected to be the most lightweight, pure, and porous available, meaning it would also color more quickly and evenly as it is smoked. Second, for our Deluxe meerschaums, we had the pipes made with a patented Briar-Mortise system that is closer to the stem connection on a briar pipe than a standard meerschaum. This is because, on our Deluxe models, the mortise is made from briar itself, while the tenons used are made from Delrin. This allows for more precision construction of the pipe’s draft hole, as well as a general extra durability and longevity.
As the name suggests, the “cherrywood” design originated with pipes made from branches of the cherry tree, in part because of how well suited the shape was for such a material. While few pipes are made from cherry wood these days, the shape has found new life across the pipe making industry, from factory mainstays to high-end artisans. While those renditions are usually carved from briar, meerschaum is yet another material that works particularly well with the form, having much the same advantages as the poker, but with a a more easy-sipping and easy sitting stature. It also looks especially nice when dressed in some quintessentially Turkish brickwork carving, as in the case of this one.
This pipe comes with a custom-fitted hard case.
