Kaywoodie 1951 Allbriar Prototype 50B Smooth Rhodesian Estate Briar Pipe, Unsmoked
Out of stock
Description
Kaywoodie pipes are as American as apple pie. Starting in 1919 as a pipe brand for KB&B, a pipe shop dating all the way back to 1851, Kaywoodie has since then been a staple of American-made pipes. In the present, many Kaywoodies are collectors’ items, in addition to being fantastic smokers.
As the name suggests, “Allbriar,” otherwise written as “All Briar” or “All-Briar” pipes are, more or less, comprised entirely of briar. This means that not only is the bowl made from briar root, but so is the mouthpiece. Officially, it appears that the Kaywoodie Allbriar debuted in 1952, not long before KB&B sold the brand to S.M. Frank, however this one was made a little earlier. Like the White Briar “tavern clay” style churchwarden listed recently, this particular Allbriar came in with a collection of prototype Kaywoodies, some of which were put into production, and some of which never saw a commercial release. The Allbriar 50B was, ultimately, manufactured for Kaywoodie’s many customers, with this particular example appearing to be a successful “test run.”
This pipe is completely unsmoked. A couple of minor scratches on the bowl, though nothing major.
