Description

The Old English DeLuxe was a line of pipes made by Comoy’s for the pipe shop Jost’s in St Louis. Comoy’s itself is a historic brand in pipe making, and possibly the most historic brand in the making of briar pipes. Though originally founded in 1825 by a French family from Saint Claude, France, production of Comoy’s pipes was soon moved to London, England, where it established itself as one of the quintessential English pipe companies.

Though the basics of Anglo-French design have been spread far and wide for a good long time, there are still some renditions of Anglo-French shapes that jump out as being made by one company or another. At least, they do if you handle thousands of pipes a year. This Old English DeLuxe is unmistakably a Comoy’s 126, a genuine classic as far as traditional pot shapes go. It’s compact, lightweight, perfectly wide as far as the chamber is concerned and, in this instance, also very nicely grained.

The condition is very good, too. Minor rim darkening.
