Jacono 2015 Knight E Rusticated Squat Apple Estate Briar Pipe, Italian Estates
Out of stock
Description
Having a high-end briar cutter for a father-in-law, along with a pipe-maker for a brother-in-law Tonino Jacono began making pipes, in collaboration with his two extended family members, in 1981. In 1983, he started his own pipe workshop in Marche, Italy, founding the Jacono brand. After over four decades in the craft, Tonino continues to create high-grade pipes in the Italian style.
More granular than Savinelli’s Punto Oro Corallo, and sharper than Castello’s Natural Vergin, Jacono’s lighter-stained “Knight” pipes are his own answer to that venerable Italian tradition; a stony and almost bare finish that will, over the years, develop a golden patina not unlike meerschaum pipes do. This Knight is a fairly short, slightly squat, and more than a little plump apple – properties common to many Jacono pipes – making it pocket friendly and not especially heavy.
The condition is great. Some very minor rim darkening. The pipe looks to already be taking on a nice golden hue, which should continue with its next owner.
