Description

There are some artisans who are well known and widely acclaimed for their sandblasting techniques. Bill Taylor of Ashton, J.T. Cooke, Lee Von Erck, and so on. The reason these figures are so well known for their sandblasts is not just because they mastered pre-existing techniques, but went so far as to create their own. Pavel Holub’s Eclesias pipes display a similar ingenuity, with his “Dragon Scale” sandblasting producing results that are as tactile and densely layered as their namesake.

=The cutty has seen a genuine revival in recent years thanks to the novel renditions of Tom Eltang, Chris Asteriou, and Mike Sebastian Bay. This Eclesias rendition follows that trend of the neo-cutty, while also creating something wholly unique. Not only does it wear Pavel Holub’s signature sandblast, it also makes use of a carefully sculpted acacia ferrule, which works beautifully with the bowl’s natural finish and the reddish cues of a hand cut, NYH Cumberland stem.
