Description

To veteran pipe smokers, Dunhill needs no introduction. Beginning in 1907, Alfred Dunhill began selling Dunhill pipes at the tobacconist shop he owned on London’s Duke Street. Very quickly, these pipes gained the reputation of being the ‘Rolls-Royce’ of pipes due to how expertly crafted they were. Today, Dunhill is likely Britain’s most famous pipe manufacturer, and continues to produce some of the most treasured pipes a smoker can buy.

Debuting in 1986, Dunhill’s County line featured cumberland stems, a deep and craggy sandblast, and a tan brown contrast finish reminiscent of the early Tanshell—or, perhaps, a Tanshell that had already developed the kind of warm patina naturally develops from a long and faithful smoking companionship. This one is an example of Dunhill’s classic, lightweight billiard shapes, and features an exceptionally and uncharacteristically craggy, ring grain finish for a relatively recent make.

The condition is fair. Some inner rim charring, chamber slightly over reamed, and a slightly dark patch at the base of the bowl, though this looks to be external, as the chamber itself is sound.
